This aircraft underwent a complete restoration at RARE Aircraft Ltd. Numerous repairs were made during the restoration and, complete new parts were also made. For example all four wings are brand new as well as the horizontal stabilizer, firewall, engine mount, instrument panel and many others, too numerous to list here. Also installed are new dual brakes and dual yoke. The newly designed articulating rudder/brake pedals coupled to Cleveland wheels and brakes makes this airplane a delight to handle on and off the runway. This has become a trademark RARE Aircraft modification to cabin Wacos since they did not originally have brakes on the rudder pedals rather a “Johnson Bar” brake system.

This EGC-8 with the “E” designation is powered by a 760-E2 Wright engine of 350 hp. It is also supercharged thus the E2 designation for the engine. The 760-E2 has a distinctive bark to its exhaust note, all its own, complimented by gobs of torque when you push the throttle forward for takeoff. Weighing in empty at 2447 and a gross of 3800 this big cabin stalls at a gentle 55 mph. Published cruise is 147 mph.

All this was made possible by the current owner Bill McCormick of Clarkston Michigan. Known to us as “Mac” he insisted on making everything correct and, being a very accomplished machinist, helped supply some of the specialty parts such as the dual yoke. It is members of the RARE Aircraft family like “Mac” that make creations like this possible.
